Gamma spectroscopy for material analysis and the study of nuclear reactions relevant to Nuclear Astrophysics.

RUBION is equipped with high efficiency HPGe detectors as well as with a large volume NaI detector covering a solid angle of 98% for photons emitted at its center. Both setups can be used for material analysis purposes as well as for the study of capture reactions at energies relevant to Nuclear Astrophysics. Especially in the latter case, where low cross sections are involved, a 4π detector, like the one available in RUBION, enables the determination of the total cross section of a reaction within relevantly short time scales.
